Blue Skies Through the Storm

Posted March 30th, 2008 in [hide]

Blue Skies Through the Storm

Another break in the storm. These have been fairly common, if scattered dozens of miles apart. The western slope - where this was shot - is generally wetter and darker from cloud cover. Today was no exception. Heading back from the eastern watershed can feel like descending as a scuba diver into the deep sea.

Of course this constant water is what allows the lush green to fill the sides of the mountains and the broad valley below, where Seattle lives. Every exit from the highway in Snoqualmie / Mt Baker National Forest has a trailhead, and many of these lead up to gems in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area.

  1. Wow! Look how nasty the storm weather is and then how there’s a blue sky overhead.

Nice work. Keep it up, please. I really enjoy seeing the beauty in nature.
