Satellite Map Granite Mountain

Satellite Map Granite Mountain

Above is a map of the hike, recreated from a GPS track log. Below is a map showing the location each photo presented in this post was shot. Zoom in, and you’ll see clusters of very closely spaced push pins, representing photos; I guess this says something about my style.

Reviews of this hike usually say “the views begin halfway up the trail,” as you climb above the timberline, and visibility opens up from about a hundred yards to almost a hundred miles on a clear day - Mount Rainier towers above the rest of the Cascade Range, but often disappears behind the clouds.

This hike ( shown on the map above ) was 8.25 miles, and about 3,600 feet of elevation gain. Reaching the summit would have added another 1/3 mile and ~200 feet of climb to the trip.
